G E Capital has just released a report that shows that the average life expectancy of an over-the-road driver is just 61 years.
This is way below the national average.
The research blames the sedentary life style of most commercial truck drivers, and suggests that recent new legislation may be forcing drivers to spend more hours on the road – often at the most congested, stressful times of day.
Your answer? Park further away from the rest stop: walk where you are going. Pass on the all-you-can-eat buffets of chicken-fried steak, fried chicken, French fries, and the rest. Make sure that more of your off duty hours are hours when you are actually asleep in a comfortable bed.
Take care of yourself: you are the valuable cargo in every truck that you reposition.
